    The 200-sq-m (2,100-sq-ft) membrane is attached to a small disc-shaped spacecraft that was put in orbit last month by an H-IIA rocket.

    Ikaros will demonstrate the principle of using sunlight as a simple and efficient means of propulsion

    Why did they name a Japanese technological pursuit after a Greek mythological figure? The westernization of Asia is so evident when the land of the rising sun cant find a better symbolic name for its solar craft except for an ancient greek legend...

    Yeah, in a sense I'll say the Japanese are currently more westernized than alot of western derived societies, like say, the whole of Latin America.

    They are more developed, and more Americanized, I guess.

    But don't forget Latin America is also part of the Western Civilization, so your comment is nonsense.
    In fact, we can trace the roots of ours arts, language and origins to the Greek-Roman civilization. Not long ago masses where in Latin, you know.
