Default Would You Consider Living in Africa?

Reminder: Their are 52 countries in Africa

I have lived in Africa (South East Nigeria) so for me their is nothing to consider. I would love to live in either Cape Verde, Senegal, Morocco or Zanzibar (Tanzania). In my opinion Zanzibar is the most beautiful place in the world. I dont like city life, I prefer a more natural life. Cape Verde is in the Top 20 most popular places to buy property abroad.

The only issue in most African countries is the limited job market, but I work myself so its not such a big problem but if I have kids, may be an issue for them.

Would you consider living in an African country? Please specify by country and give reasons why

Most of them are too poor, some of them too dangerous, some of them too religious and all of them too hot.

The weather is too hostile. Too much illness and poverty. But sometimes there are projects to do abroad, so why not? But it has to be in some place in the southern part of Africa, or closer to the coasts, I guess.

It's also poorer and hotter than most European countries.

I wasn't saying all of them are poor, hot, dangerous and religious, but all of them have a flaw one way or another in these factors, plus, these factors aren't all as important as the other, for example I could tolerate a hot country if it was rich, but wasn't religious or dangerous etc etc, depends on the circumstances

BTW, I wouldn't chose to live in most European countries either. Europe isn't a monolithic block or one giant country.

Ok. I realise its silly to ask non Africans this questions because you all have a one track view of Africa (the negative stories you hear in the media).

I want people who are not ignorant about Africa to answer this question and give good thoughtful viewpoints otherwise its pointless

I am not expecting people to say that they will consider living there, but i dont want to see ignorant posts either.

But you are the one who just generalised 'Africa'.

How is what I said ignorant? I don't have a one track view of Africa, there are some beautiful places and fantastic people there, I wouldn't mind visiting some countries. For me though, all hot countries are out of the question unless I was really hard-up. I really don't react well to heat and even the British summers we are having with 30C don't do anything for me, so even somewhere like Australia is most likely out of the question. I would also want to live in a first-world, developed country because I would never want to face the prospect of poverty, no nation in Africa is developed to that level at the moment. Obviously, not all African countries are dangerous or religious, but some have serious social and political strife, and many (mainly the Muslim countries of the North) have very religious societies, something I could never live with.

On balance, I have considered all the factors properly.

I am not ignorant about Africa, lady. I see the BBC and study the UN statistics.

It wouldn't be so bad to live among the whites in South Africa, except that you can be assaulted in any corner. I am not interested to live in Muslim Africa either, in places like Morroco or Lybia, where you have to listen the call to pray anywhere, and see people dressed in ridiculous sheets...

So, I discard both the Southern and the Northern region.

Yes, it would be interesting to live in some of the regions that you mentioned, like Zanzibar, Cape Verde or Senegal. Perhaps there are islands of peace that are worth a try.
    Portuguese Africa seems interesting, indeed.
