A bit, but to be honest, I don't spend much time reading about Nazis or even WWII...I'm sure it means something to Europeans and old people who fought in it, but I care about much more ancient history, often outside of Europe...

In 30s Germans of rural areas were speaking German. They were a speaking a dialect. Volga Germans and Caucasus Germans were deported in Ural and Middle Asia as authorities didn't trust them. But they made a contribution working in factories producing weapons , food, clothing for the army.

POW's captured by Finns belonged to many ethnic groups, many then were Mongolian or Siberian. Finnish soldiers wondered how the Russians can look so strange, but it can be that Russian generals preferred to send them to the Finnish front.

    Three simple facts about Finns:
    1. Baltic Finnic languages (including Finnish) never came from the Volga basin along with ancestors of present-day Finns.
    2. Finnish I1 (around 30% of all Finns) has Germanic roots from the late Bronze Age or the early Iron Age.
    3. As to the Finnish prehistory we have no evidences about any Iron Age (or later) east-to-west migration, but many unquestionable evidences about west-to-east migrations.

They were prisoners. During the war Finland captured 64000 Russian solders defined as juridical POW's. Additionally 1 thousand was captured behind the front without Soldier's identifier and status, during their illegal operations against civilians. Usually they were shot immediately.
