Sadly, no, not yet at least. According to his children themselves, he was born in Valencia, Spain. His surname was Aparici. Recently, I stumbled upon a 1510 census record of people from Valencia. I looked for his surname, Aparici, and found 7 people with that surname. There's a hypothesis within the family that his family was originally from Italy, so I think it's now null/false because I found that census record.

You know how hard it is to look for old records in the Philippines. I have spent months looking for records of some ancestors but to no avail. Some were easy, but the others proved to be challenging. I have yet to go to the National Archives so I still have hope!

My great-great-grandfather's surname is Aparici. My great-grandmother died as a Montoya because she married a Mexican in the US, but they parted because she left for the Philippines for reasons unknown. I'd have to ask my grandmother!

I wonder-does National Archives collect records from various provinces across the islands? Since I'm living in the States, I hope I can go to the Philippines to discover the records.

Yeah, it's hard to actually look for old records specially in the Philippines. did you try in Mormon church cause we found some old records there.

I have done that in the United States but it was an unsuccessful effort because I need the details on my grandparents' names and birthplaces. The last resort was to send my letter to the priest at the local church in Bicol.

I have a DNA relative on 23andme and his/her parents are from my dad's hometown in Bicol. I shared my 23andme's AC composition with her. It's rare to see her European ancestry which is 29.1% on speculative mode and 28.2% on standard mode. It's really rare to see the large amount of European ancestry in the majority of the Filipino population.
