Just found this out last night via Nat Geo's Genographic Project.

    X2A1B

0.1% of all participants have this haplogroup, apparently.

I have no documented NA ancestry...but my mother thinks there may have been Iroquois on her Canadian mother's side.

Welp, looks like she might be right.

Outside mtDNA, my DNA signature most closely resembles the Danes and Norwegians based on the same data.

So it looks like you have Native American ancestry on your maternal line. Though don't assume the haplogroup is definitely correct as NGP has MANY mistakes in past classifying MtDNA.

I dont know yet, but I've been messing around my ftdna raw data (which seems not to include any mtdna related snps at all) and several conversion tools, I got two mutations. coincidence? lol maybe (263G 16189C) which would point me to H+, maybe H1..
but that may be a huge concidence/glitch hahahha lets see in a couple of weeks when I get my real results if they show those.

My mtDNA haplogroup is B4a1, which is weird considering i'm African American. I guess it points towards Malagasy Ancestry ?

I didn't get any East Asian, Native American, Oceanian, or Polynesian on my AncestryDNA test, but Southeast Asia did pop up as 1.3% on my DNA.Land test. I also got small amounts of Chinese, Northeast Asian, Oceanian and South Asian on my WeGene test. Lastly when I run various GEDMatch tests and I also get small amounts of East Asian and Oceanian. I have also heard that many people who have verifiable Native American ancestry and take AncestryDNA, get various amounts of Asian, with me I got 2% West Asia and 1% Central Asia. My family (as almost every American family says) says that we have Native American but you know how that goes. As for the Malagasy, nobody ever told me I had any , nor have I found out for myself if I had any.

thats very interesting, B4a1 seems to be southeast asian (Filipino, Chinese, etc) the common clades for native americans that i have seen are B2, but we cannot totaly exclude the possibility of it being Native to the Americas. Dont you have maybe Hawaiian ancestry?

In any case, It's thought that there was a contact between polynesians and 'americans' even before columbus. Well they reached Hawaii and Easter Island. Your results culd prove this further. I'd suggest, if you can, to do a full mtdna sequence.

I don't think iv'e heard of any Hawaiian ancestry in my family. It could be possible though. I am also thinking about taking a full mtDNA sequence test. I can take it in the next few months.

I'm thinking it came from England,Ireland,Scotland,France or Gemany. Possibly came from Scandinavia but I doubt it. My Nw and west euro is way higher than my scandinavian. I'm not sure if my scandinavian is from Denmark. I just added the flag because I like Denmark.
